Renewing an airport permit?
Send us the permit language and we'll tell you whether our record matches it.
It varies by airport. Sarasota Bradenton International (Florida) requires a copy of each vehicle's most recent annual inspection from the applicable city or county agency (SRQ ground transportation permit, 2026). Phoenix Sky Harbor asks for at least an annual brake and tire inspection by a qualified third party (PHX permit checklist).
| Layer | Rule | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Federal | Annual inspection for interstate vehicles designed for 9 to 15 passengers for pay, or 16+ passengers | 49 CFR 390.5, 396.17 |

| State | New Jersey: limousines, hotel buses and similar vehicles in annual safety and emissions inspection at licensed facilities | N.J.A.C. 13:20 |

| Airport | Permit terms set by each airport | Ask your airport's ground transportation office |
Airport requirements found so far: DFW issues company, driver and vehicle permits under Chapters 4 and 5 of its Code of Rules and Regulations; Sarasota Bradenton requires each vehicle's most recent annual inspection. Many other major airports don't publish inspection terms in searchable form, so check with your airport's ground transportation office.
When the vehicle is used across state lines and is designed for 9 to 15 passengers, including the driver, carried for pay, or for 16 or more passengers (49 CFR 390.5). Then it needs an annual inspection with proof on board (49 CFR 396.17). Larger buses are covered on buses and motorcoaches.
